Foam gives immediate, consistent support. It holds its shape with no effort from you, does not need plumping, and suits people who like a firm seat and a tidy-looking sofa. It softens gradually over years but never collapses.

Feather and down gives a deep, enveloping sit that moulds to the body - the sink-in feeling people associate with very expensive sofas. The trade-off is real: it needs plumping every few days or it looks flat and creased, and it is unsuitable for anyone with feather allergies.

Blended - a foam core wrapped in a feather or hollow-fibre layer - is what most people actually want. The core holds the shape and takes the load; the wrap gives the soft first impression. It still needs occasional plumping, but far less.

In humid Indian conditions, feather needs more airing than it does in a dry climate. That is worth knowing before choosing it.

Packaging and Transit Protection

Cushion fill changes how cushions must be packed, so they are handled accordingly. Foam cushions travel flat with rigid support beneath. Feather and blended cushions are bagged loosely rather than compressed - vacuum-packing or tight wrapping crushes the fill and damages feather clusters permanently, and the cushion never regains its loft.

All cushions arrive needing to be plumped and left to recover for a day or two; that is normal and not a defect. The upholstery is covered in soft breathable cloth with a moisture barrier outside, never sealed plastic. The pierced crest, both openwork back wings, the gilt scroll arms, apron and feet are individually foam-wrapped and taped clear of the leaf. The sofa is corner-guarded, blocked into a fitted crate with foam on every face, marked for orientation and lifting points, and photographed sealed before dispatch.

Shipping and Delivery

Every sofa is built to order, and cushion fill is confirmed alongside seat count and fabric before manufacture - it is not something that can be changed easily afterwards, since the cushion cases are cut differently for foam and for feather. Typical lead time is 9 to 11 weeks from order confirmation; feather and blended fills may add time if the fill has to be sourced to your specification. Larger sets take longer. We share progress photographs after carving, after gilding and after upholstery.

Delivery is free anywhere in India - Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and elsewhere. Our team unloads, unwraps, places and levels the sofa, and plumps and sets the cushions at your address. Craftsmanship Assurance and Care

Our craftsmanship assurance covers the solid teak frame, its joinery and the hand-carving. If a joint works loose or a carved element separates because of a fault in the making - rather than through impact, misuse, or an attempted self-repair - we repair or replace it. Fill and fabric are consumable components with their own service life; terms differ by fill type and are confirmed at order.

Care depends on what you chose. Foam cushions need turning and end-for-end rotation monthly and nothing else. Feather and blended cushions need plumping every few days - pick the cushion up, strike both sides firmly to redistribute the fill, and stand it back. Skipping this is why feather sofas look tired, not because the fill has failed. In humid weather, air feather cushions in a shaded, ventilated spot every few months. All fills benefit from rotation so light and wear distribute evenly. Vacuum with a brush attachment, blot spills straight down, dust the gilded carving with a dry soft brush only, and keep the sofa out of direct sunlight.
