The Story Behind This Bed

Bedroom lighting is usually decided last and should be decided first, because most of it depends on dimensions only the bed maker controls.

Bedside lamps. The bottom of a lampshade should sit roughly at shoulder height when you are sitting up in bed - too high and the bulb glares into your eyes, too low and it lights the table rather than your book. That height is a function of mattress thickness plus side table height, which is why we dimension side tables after the bed and mattress are specified.

Wall and reading lights. These must be positioned before the headboard height is fixed. A tall carved headboard will simply swallow a wall light installed at a standard height, and moving a wired point afterwards means re-plastering.

Integrated lighting. Concealed lighting can be built into the headboard or beneath the bed base as a soft night light. Both need wiring routed through the frame at manufacture - it cannot be added later without dismantling.

Packaging and Transit Protection

The bowed foot has no flat face, so its crate is built to the curve with foam supporting the bow continuously along its length rather than at the ends - pressure across a curved rail rather than along it is what damages it. Its upholstered tufted top is protected with standoff blocking bridging over the buttons.

The headboard travels flat in its own cross-braced crate with rigid boards both faces, its leather panels covered in soft breathable cloth so the hide can breathe, and its carved crest and wings individually foam-wrapped. Where concealed lighting is fitted, the wiring is coiled, secured and labelled inside the frame so it cannot be pulled during handling. Side rails edge-protected full length. Fittings and lighting components bagged, labelled and packed with the assembly and wiring drawings. All crates corner-guarded, marked for orientation, photographed sealed before dispatch.

Shipping and Delivery

Before manufacture we need your mattress dimensions and thickness, your ceiling height, and your lighting plan - the positions of any wall lights or wired points behind the bed, and whether you want concealed lighting built in. Wiring cannot be added to the frame afterwards without dismantling it. Typical lead time is 11 to 13 weeks from order confirmation, longer with matching side tables, dresser or wardrobe.

Delivery is free anywhere in India - Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and elsewhere. Our team assembles the bed in the room, levels it, positions the side tables and terminates any integrated wiring for your electrician to connect. Access: measure against the headboard and the bow foot, both of which are wide, and note the bow cannot be turned diagonally through a doorway the way a straight rail can. Craftsmanship Assurance and Care

Our craftsmanship assurance covers the solid teak frame, its joinery, the curved bow foot construction and the hand-carving. If a joint works loose, the bow rail fails or a carved element separates because of a fault in the making - rather than through impact, misuse or an attempted self-repair - we repair or replace it. Leather, upholstery and any light fittings are covered separately; fittings carry their own manufacturer warranties, which we pass to you.

The upholstered bow foot invites sitting, and unlike a carved footboard it is built for it - but sit on the padded top, never on the carved apron below, which is ornament rather than structure. Wipe the tufted leather panels with a barely damp cloth and dry at once. Clean pierced gilt carving with a dry soft brush only, never a cloth or liquid. Any electrical work on integrated lighting must be done by a qualified electrician - we terminate the wiring, we do not connect to your supply. Tighten all bed fixings a fortnight after assembly and again whenever the bed is moved.
