An antique style console table is a new piece built to the design language of an older one - the proportions, the ornament and the finish of a period console, made now in solid timber to a size that fits a modern wall. This one is solid teak, hand-carved by master Indian artisans, with gilded ornament over a dark ground.

The form is compact rather than long, which suits a narrower stretch of wall: a swelling apron, four cabriole legs with carved masks at their heads, a shaped stretcher with a carved boss, and a gilded plume rising from the stretcher into the space beneath the apron.

Every table is made to order and fully customisable. Length, depth, height, the tone of the dark ground and the extent of the gilding are all specified by you, with custom sizes made to order and exact dimensions confirmed in writing before production.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty plus lifetime cover against termite damage. Delivery is free anywhere in India, in multi-layer protective packaging with guaranteed dent-free arrival.

The plume rising from the stretcher is the smallest element on this table and the one that takes the longest to settle, because its height is a judgement rather than a measurement.

It is carved with the grain running vertically and mortised into the stretcher, so the fibres run continuously up through the leaves and there is no short-grained neck to fail. That part is straightforward joinery. What is not straightforward is deciding where it stops.

Our master Indian artisans work to a rule that applies to any ornament pointing into empty space: it must either clearly reach the thing above it, or clearly stop well short of it. What it must never do is almost touch. A plume whose tip finishes a finger's width below the apron looks like a mistake - the eye reads the gap as an error rather than as a decision, and it keeps returning to it. Give it a generous, obvious gap and the plume reads as rising freely; carry it all the way up and it reads as a support.

So the carver works the plume slightly over height, stands the table up, looks at it from across the room, and takes it down until the gap is unmistakable.

Material: solid teak throughout, hand-carved. No veneer, no engineered board.

Form: compact console with a swelling apron, four cabriole legs with carved masks at the heads and scrolled toes, shaped stretcher with a carved boss and a mortised plume finial.

Top: bordered with a hand-carved gilded moulding following the shaped outline.

Finish: dark ground with hand-applied gilding on the carved ornament, sealed for durability.

Construction: traditional joinery; ornament carved from the solid; plume mortised into the stretcher with the grain running vertically.

Sizes: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Made to order: dimensions, ground colour and extent of gilding chosen by you.

Warranty: 20 years on the solid teak frame and joinery; lifetime cover against termite damage.

Photography: images show the actual product, not renders.

The plume is the first thing considered when this table is packed, because it stands alone in open space with nothing around it to take a knock on its behalf. It is given a shaped protective housing of its own before anything else goes on.

The rest of the frame is wrapped in a soft non-abrasive layer laid directly against the gilding, then in foam cut to sit around the raised apron ornament, the carved masks and the scrolled toes rather than compressed against them. The gilded top moulding is protected along its full run, since a moulded edge takes damage more easily than a flat surface.

The whole piece then goes into a rigid outer crate with cushioning on every face and strapping that prevents movement even if the crate is turned.

This multi-layer protective packaging is why we guarantee dent-free arrival. Please open and inspect the table while the delivery team is still with you.

Delivery is free across India - no freight charge, no surcharge for distance, and the same price whether you are in a metro city or a smaller town.

Every antique style console table is made to order, so production begins once your dimensions and finish choices are confirmed in writing. We share the build timeline at that point and keep you updated through carving, colouring and gilding.

Once finished, the table is packed as described and dispatched with a carrier used to moving carved furniture. You are contacted before delivery so someone can be present to receive and check it.

Arrival is guaranteed dent-free. If any transit damage has occurred, photograph it while the delivery team is present and contact us - we will resolve it. The table arrives as a single completed unit and needs no assembly; it can be carried straight to the wall and set down.

Twenty years on the solid teak frame and its joinery, from the day the table reaches you. That covers the leg joints, the apron, the stretcher connections and the mortise that carries the plume.

Lifetime cover against termite damage applies for the life of the furniture rather than a fixed term. Seasoned solid teak carries oils that termites avoid, and because the table is teak all the way through - including behind the dark finish - there is no board core for them to reach.

If anything covered arises, send us photographs and we will assess and repair or replace. Repairs on a piece finished in gold over a dark ground are carried out in the original sequence: re-carve from the solid, lay the ground colour, then gild, so the boundary between the two stays as crisp on the repaired area as it is everywhere else. Both warranties apply anywhere in India and travel with the furniture.

Yes. Length, depth and height are all yours to specify and the ornament is set out afresh at that size so the apron and stretcher stay correctly proportioned. Custom sizes are made to order with dimensions confirmed in writing before production.

Yes. The same carving can be built over a deep brown, a dark green, a burgundy or a lighter ground, with the gilding adjusted to suit. Tell us the effect you want and we will build to it.

It is carved separately and mortised into the stretcher, with the grain running vertically up through it so the fibres are continuous along its length. That is far stronger than carving it sideways out of the stretcher itself.

This design is shown with a gilded moulded border to the top. It can equally be built with a marble slab, a polished teak top or a stone of your choosing - just tell us before production.
